Garden Store
One of the things I love most about gardening is the endless variety of fruits and vegetables available to the home gardener. Every year since my very first garden I’ve tried a new tomato or pepper variety. With experimentation with different varieties comes experimentation with what to do with the produce. Sometimes, as with all experiments, there are tremendous flops. (Broccoli jelly anyone?) But most often, the end result is delicious! Offered here for your epicurean pleasure are some of our favorites! Don’t be afraid to try something different, you never know what wonders you may find! Enjoy!
This stuff goes fast, so get your orders in early. Jellies are made at the end of the summer and will be ready for delivery by mid-to-late September.
Place your orders by e-mail, and be sure to include your name and contact information with your order. After your order is placed, you will receive an order confirmation and invoice that you can pay online or with a check by mail.
John’s Jellies
Not your run of the mill fruit jellies! Each variety has been tested for at least a few seasons, and comes guaranteed to please! 100% natural with no additives or preservatives. Just sweet jelly goodness ready for whatever you can imagine!
John’s Original Pepper Jelly
My very first year of gardening, I had an overabundance of peppers. I searched high and low for something to do with them, and stumbled on a recipe for Sweet Pepper Jelly. After a little tweaking, I came up with my own recipe. That first year, I made eight jars of it for friends and family. The next year it was in such high demand that I made over eighty jars of it!
Nowadays I plant around a dozen varieties of peppers, both sweet and hot, to make my famous Pepper Jelly! Each variety has its own subtleties, but every jar is a winner! Add a jar to a pork roast in a crock pot. Delicious. Try a little on a ham or turkey sandwich. A taste sensation! Our favorite use is with some cream cheese on crackers. Very addictive!

Available Varieties For Fall of 2009:
Sweet Red Pepper Jelly
Made from a three variety blend of sweet red peppers. Sweet Red has a bold pepper taste with a subtle spice flavor to it. Our most popular pepper jelly!
Sunrise Orange Pepper Jelly
Slightly more mild than Sweet Red, but still rich and tasty, Sunrise Orange combines select Tequila Sunrise and Golden Treasure peppers for a taste that’s sure to please.
Jalapeno Jelly
Quite a but spicier than the other two! This green jelly can be used to spice up any dish! Sweet and HOT!
Jalapeno Jam
Just like the jelly, but with the meat of the peppers left in. Considerably spicier than the jelly, it could almost be called a salsa. Has a nice sweet undertone to it, making it great for adding to chicken and pork. This is a jam with bite! ½ pint jars only.
Dandelion Jelly
Just a weed to some. But our yard will never be sprayed! Dandelions have a remarkably short harvest season, and jelly production is ridiculously time consuming, so quantities are very limited. If it weren’t so incredibly tasty, I would not continue to make it! This bright yellow jelly is ambrosia in a jar. Sweet like honey, not near as sticky. This is a flavor not to be missed! Use it where you would a common grape or berry jelly. It will not disappoint! Limit 6 per order.

Basil Jelly
You heard right. Basil. That sweet, succulent herb used in pesto and such, is also remarkable as a jelly! Pale green, this beautiful little jelly has a sweet herbal tang that tastes great anywhere. We like it as a glaze as well as with peanut butter! Another good jelly for meat and cheese sandwiches.

Other Garden Offerings
Pesto
Traditionally used on pasta, but limited only by a chef’s imagination! My Pesto is made from select basil leaves straight from my garden, a high quality olive oil, pine nuts and a few secret spices. This pesto base will keep for a year if frozen. Just add parmagian cheese for a traditional pesto. It also tastes great on chicken and fish. My brother in law used it to marinade shrimp before grilling. Healthy and yummy!

White Tomato Sauce
And now for something completely different! A few years back I grew a White Beauty tomato plant that gave me a heavy crop of pale white tomatoes. I made a sauce from some of them that was nearly identical in flavor to a traditional tomato sauce, but was a pale white color! It made a very unique pasta topper, and a noteworthy pizza sauce! This year I am able to offer a limited supply of this very unique sauce.

Tomatillo Salsa
Tomatillos are a husked, very thick walled tomato with a flavor all their own! My Tomatillo salsa is excellent as a dip, but also fantastic on burritos, tacos, or just to spice up regular old baked chicken! Made from both standard Green Tomatillos and Purple de Milpa Tomatillos, it’s a unique and delicious salsa.
